Chocolate cake for breakfast? Yes, my roommate was away on a trip and I had made a chocolate cake. We hadn’t finished it so being the only one in the house I decided not to waste any of the food. So I had chocolate cake for breakfast.
Going to school is good and I”m having a great time learning. I understand what is going on in class but want my vocabulary to say some things that are still hard. I am good enough to explain it and get around using some words but I should just learn them.
We have a vacant lot across the driveway from our apartment and I have been picking up the trash, good boy scout that I am. The grass is really coming out and it looks great. There are even a few wild flowers. When I showed the neighbor’s kids they picked them all. Oh well, maybe next time I can enjoy them.
Oh, and did I mention cooking treats for the neighbors? It was funny. The first one didn’t want to take it but I insisted. The 2nd one came back to my door asking what it was, because I gave it to the small child at the door. And the 3rd one took it right out of my hand and within an hour returned the pan full of other sweets. That is one thing in this culture that is nice. If some one gives you food, you must return the dish with food. But I think it was odd for them to see me giving something to them because being a single male, I can return it empty. So for me to initiate it I guess is odd.
Well, I got up this morning, was getting ready for school with it raining hard and I had only enough money to go by bus and service. It was coming down so I walked to the bus and luckily there was one waiting. I jumped in and off at Ragadone. It was all flooded. You had to watch where you walked because of the big puddles. Being the boyscout I am, I was wearing my gortex boots my brother got me (so I was warm with a coat, tobagan and gloves) but the buses would drive by and splash people. I wanted to stay and help out but I didn’t know if I would be able to get a bus or not. There were tons of buses and hardly anyone waiting so I got a bus easily, but I didn’t want to walk up the mountain. So I went ahead and got off at the other ragadon and got a service up the mountain. It was the first time I had used the new staition. It is nice looking, but the carport over-hang design points in the direction of the rain so somebody wasn’t thinking when they designed it. The rain always comes from that direction. Some other things have improved since the other bus station like the railings. Instead of putting them between you and the bus, they put it on the outside where it protects you from “cutters” trying to get in front of about 30 people but now they can’t. I still think the way they come in and out is a little too chaotic. It’s only running at about a 4th capacity and as slow as it goes when everyone is there makes it pure chaos. They need to make a few overpasses and it would be great. So I got in the service and off we went, got out and immediatly went to the ATM then off to school. By this time the temperature had gone down more but it was still just raining. I walked in and up to my class room but there was only one other person so we sat for 10 min and then another student came in and said it was snowing in the west. 2 mins later another student said school was cancelled because of snow. Then it started to snow hard, but it wasn’t sticking and I just said, “Well, I went to the trouble of getting here we might as well have school. What’s the point of leaving?” We went to eat at our favorite breakfast place, those of us that did show up to school. Hopefully I can get something done today and writing this is a beginning. Maybe I will bake something. I made chile and cornbread yesterday but it didn’t rise up all puffy. Then again I don’t remember it that way at home either– just at restaurants. I don’t know if today would be a good day to go out with friends. They may just want to stay inside all day.
Boring!
